Katherine Sparkes and I talk about a range of topics from the relevancy of distributed energy resources (DERs) in the future of Ontario’s energy mix, the importance of equity and affordability in Ontario’s electricity market and insights on what’s it’s like to be - at times - the only woman in a room in this industry. She highlights the importance of diversity in this sector and emphasizes the value that diverse backgrounds, cultures, genders and professional experiences bring to the table and reflects on strategies to integrate diversity into innovative solutions.
Katherine has devoted her career to developing and implementing pragmatic solutions to the climate change challenge. Katherine has held leadership positions in non-profit, for-profit and public sector organizations and she is she is currently the Director of Innovation, Research & Development at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in Ontario.
